P&S

JANUARY 2006 MOVING & SHOOTING VIDEO.

Below is a link to a 5 sec video of a test using P&S while moving.

Here is a pic of the air pistol and target used.

I removed the grip plates as the grip was and still is big for my hand. I also added a P&S aiming aid for use in aiming the gun with my index finger. It is positioned to take advantage of the curve of the back strap. I also cut off a portion of the trigger guard and extened the trigger to allow for pulling the trigger with my middle finger. (Hey it is my gun, so I can do what I want with it. :-)

To bad that gun makers don't recognize that aiming with the index finger is fast, automatic, instinctive, and accurate at close quarters distances, and that it provides for rapid and accurate shooting, even while moving, and without use of the sights which may not be able to be used for a wide variety of reasons.

In my opinion, if guns were made that allowed for the use of P&S, they would improve one's survival chance in a close quarters shooting for the reasons just stated above.

To show the shooter (me), I positioned the camera by the target; and I also placed a mirror in the camera's field of view, so target hits would show up as they were being made.

A nine inch wide pie plate was used. I wrote 9 In "backwards" on it so it would read "9 In" when seen in the mirror image.

The distance was about 16 feet to the target, or about 13 feet from the end of the gun muzzle when my arm was extended.

I shot five times, and per the timeline in the 5.sec video, used up about 2.5 seconds.

There is sound so you can hear the BB's strike the pie pan.

I used the camera's self timer, and when the timer light blinked rapidly, I started to move and bring the gun up to shoot. I was holding it muzzel down and at my side.

I planned to make several "takes" if needed, but the first one looked OK to me, so I stopped. The video set up could be better, but this isn't Hollywood.

I don't shoot often or much. However, it is nice when I do, to get the reinforcement/feedback that P&S does work and very well thank you, and with little if any practice.

The video is in both WMV (Windows Media) format, and MOV (Quick Time), format.

MOV files run with Quick Time which is free from Apple.com. If you don't have Quick Time, you can download it from Apple.com. Also, if you use AOL and have selected setting/multimedia and checked the block to make the AOL player your default player, you may need to uncheck that block.

The video file is big, so please allow time for it to load.
