These software items, have been updated in 2007. They are DOS based programs which run within WINDOWS.
They were developed in the early PC years, to be used without a mouse. So they should be excellent for use with devices that are w/o a mouse, and an interesting and different interface for those with a mouse.
They are fully menu driven, very EZ to use, and have on screen prompts.
To download a file:
1. Click on one of the link lines below, and save the file.
2. Click on the file and edit/copy it to a NEW Directory (Folder).
3. Locate the file in the NEW Directory (Folder), and edit/rename it by changing the file extension from .xex to .exe. It is a condensed self unpacking file, and renaming it will allow it to execute, and self unpack.
4. When renamed with the .exe file extension: filename.exe, just double click it, to unpack it automatically.
5. Then, double click on the file named INSTALL.BAT to install the program, and put a "start up" file (.bat), in your C:\Directory. The start up .bat files are EZX.BAT and VIEW.BAT
6. Finally, click/drag the MS start button (MS VIEW or MS EZX) to the Desktop. You can also click/drag the button over START, and when the menu opens, drop it to pin it there.
7. To run the program, double click on a start button, or locate the start up .bat file in the C:\ Directory, and double click on it.
Use Alt - Tab to minimize the program.
You also can use the Windows Start Menu "Run" option to start a program by entering c:\ezx.bat or c:\view.bat.
* CAUTION *
All EZ SOFTWARE items are distributed as is. That means that any user assumes all responsibility for any and all results. If you do not agree to that, PLEASE do not use them.
Also, you should thoroughly "test drive" a program to be sure it will work for you as you want it to. That includes working with your printer if that is one of your requirements. If it does not work satisfactorily for you, PLEASE do not use it.
I have used the programs with a Panasonic KX-P1092i pin feed dot matrix printer, a HP 500C Desk Jet, an Epson C62, and HP Laser Jet 1012.
They will also work with newer USB type printers, but you will need to have the stay resident program DOS2USB running in the background for that.
Windows does not allow for automatic printing from DOS programs to USB printers.
However; DOS2USB is an interface program that can be used to print to a USB printer. It currently can be used with, or without, registering it. Here is the URL: http://dos2usb.com/download.htm. And here is a web link.
Also, the EZX program produces reports as plain text files (.txt) that you can print out using Notepad or another text printing program.
FINALLY, HERE ARE THE PROGRAMS TO DOWNLOAD.
1. EZ VIEW - A Text File Viewer and Editor.

To make it easy to operate VIEW in a directory that you use a lot, to view/copy/delete files, do this: Just right click on the View Start Button on the Desktop, and click Create Shortcut. That will add a new start button onto the Desktop. Then right click on the new button, and click on Properties and then on the Program tab at the top. Change the Working: info to "C:\....". You also may wish to rename the button.

2. EZ X - For budgeting and tracking the expenses of running your home or business. Gather cost data for budgeting, travel vouchering, and income taxes. The file date is 4/22/94.
Want to know what something (your hobby, habit, entertaiment, etc...), is really costing you, track it over time.
(NOTE: A date prior to 2000, was used to "trick" the old data base programs used, into making and compiling the system into an .exe file. As an .exe file it runs fine regardless of a computers date setting, 1994, 2001, 2007, etc....)

3. TED - A small, full-screen text editor for files up to 64K which supports scrolling, cut, copy, and paste operations. The start up file is TED.BAT.
