AIMED Point Shooting or P&S For Self Defense

P&S

Videos Of Tests Of P&S While Moving.

Below are links to two videos of P&S being used while moving.

An airsoft pistol was used.

Two BB traps were used and they were placed one on each side of our car in our garage, and up a bit higher than "normal" so they would be able to be seen clearly.

8 1/2" x 11" pieces of paper with a 3 1/2" bullseye made with a marker were used as targets. A marker was also used to mark the hits so they could be seen better. The range was 14/15 feet.

There is sound so you can hear the BB's strike the "gongs" (aluminum pie pans that are in the center of the traps at the back).

Some say that P&S is bunk, that it won't work, and that I must be crazy.

Well, the videos refute the notion that P&S can't or won't work, or that it is bunk.

They show that P&S DOES WORK and that it can be deadly effective.

I added my aiming aid to the gun to help keep my index finger along the side of the gun. However, the aid is not required to use P&S.

I used the camera's self timer, and when the timer light blinked rapidly, I started to bring the gun up to shoot. I was holding it muzzel down and at my side.

The videos are in both the WMV (Windows Media) format, and the MOV (Quick Time), format.

MOV files run with Quick Time which is free from Apple.com. If you don't have Quick Time, you can download it from Apple.com. Also, if you use AOL and have selected setting/multimedia and checked the block to make the AOL player your default player, you may need to uncheck that block.

The videos files are big, so please allow time for them to load.

P&S can be used with most hand held weapons, and with little if any training.

P&S is not a bar to other Point Shooting methods or Sight Shooting. It can enhance them.

It works when one is moving and shooting, and it also works when the target is moving.

Here is a link to tests made shooting at a moving target. See the bottom portion of the page.

I put a note about the videos up on a gun discussion site, and received some negative comments about both my accuracy and my shooting speed.

Well, I made the videos after just a few practice runs in the garage which was freezing cold. I also seldom shoot real guns and I am not a competition shooter, so what would one expect? 6 shots in a dime sized groups in 4 seconds and while moving? NOT from me anyway.

To me, hitting the target is what counts. I also believe that practice can improve performance, and that my performance could improve with practice. :-)

Also, the gun used is big for my hand. It has a wide frame and grip. When I got it, I thought I would be able to remove the grip plates to slim it up, but that is not the case. The grip is about 5 3/4 inches around. About 1x2x1x2.

Recently (mid 2006), I have been practicing at home with an airsoft pistol. I shoot at pop cans tossed into the air. So the amount of my "practice" is much higher now.

In any event, if I was to improve my accuracy and speed, then naysayers (as has been the case in the past), would find something else to nitpick about, rather than just trying P&S themselves the next time they were at the range, and of course at their own risk and expense.

Traditional Sight Shooting and some Point Shooting methods depend on body positioning, arm and hand indexing, trigger squeezing, and cognitive hand eye coordinated tasks such as aligning the sights, or focusing or placing the gun muzzle on a specific point of aim.

In a high stress CQB situation, one may not be able to get into the "proper" body position or shooting stance, and/or think fast and clearly. Also, per the literature, fine motor skills, which are necessary for Sight Shooting, will be lost to use in most all real close quarter gunfights.

Using P&S can improve your chance of defeating a threat and staying alive by helping you get on target fast, instinctively, and accurately for your first shot, and every shot, and while stationary or moving.

To not use P&S, will effectively surrender your instinctive ability to rapidly and accurately engage targets, to a threat who is trying to kill you.

And why do that?
